Didcot build a competitive total
Didcot faced an early setback when Shiv Panchal was dismissed in the opening overs, but Jerry New quickly got the innings moving. Playing positively from the outset, Jerry struck three fours and a six in a superb 20 from 19 balls, providing the backbone of the innings and keeping the scoreboard ticking over.
William Dagnell supported well with a lively 9 from 9 balls, including a boundary, before an unfortunate run out ended a promising partnership.
Further contributions came from James Lewis-Rush (9), while Tobias Marton played several confident attacking shots on the way to 12 runs, including two boundaries. In the latter stages, Cherish Reddy Gopu added a valuable 14 from 15 balls, helping Didcot post a challenging total.
With the addition of 25 extras, Didcot finished on 98 from their 100 balls, giving their bowlers a strong platform from which to defend.
Didcot bowlers make Goring work hard
Goring's chase was far from straightforward thanks to a disciplined Didcot bowling attack.
Oscar Cox-Rogers made the breakthrough by dismissing B Foster for a duck and finished with excellent figures of 1-14 from 3 overs. Jerry New capped an outstanding all-round performance by claiming the wicket of A Westropp while conceding just seven runs from his two overs.
Tobias Marton also took a wicket, removing opener C Ronksley after an impressive spell, while the rest of the Didcot attack kept the pressure on throughout.
Particularly economical bowling came from James Lewis-Rush, whose spell of 3 overs for just 5 runs gave Goring very little room to score freely. Krita Panchal was equally impressive, conceding only 4 runs from 2 overs, one of the most economical spells of the day.
Despite Didcot's efforts, Goring edged their way to 99 in the 19th over, securing a narrow victory after a highly competitive chase.
