Playing at their home ground in Didcot, the Under 11s produced an excellent all-round performance to defeat their visitors by 5 wickets after winning the toss and choosing to field first.
Didcot's bowlers made an immediate impact. Hrim Kapatel struck in the opening over to remove A Reeves for a duck. The bowling unit worked well together throughout the innings, with Christopher Bull, Jerry New, Isaac Keegan, Shiv Panchal, Cherish Reddy Gopu and Oscar Cox-Rogers all taking wickets.
The visitors' main threat came from Z Holmans, who played an aggressive knock of 24 from just 16 balls, hitting three fours and a six. However, Didcot continued to chip away with regular breakthroughs. There was also some excellent fielding on display, with William Dagnell producing a sharp run-out and Tobias Marton helping remove another batter with a direct-fielding effort. Late wickets from Shiv Panchal, Cherish Reddy Gopu and Oscar Cox-Rogers ensured the visitors were restricted to 110 all out from 98 balls.
Chasing 111 to win, Didcot began steadily. Shiv Panchal looked positive at the top of the order, while Cherish Reddy Gopu contributed before being run out with an injury. Despite losing a couple of early wickets, Didcot kept the required rate under control.
The key partnership came in the middle overs when William Dagnell and Christopher Bull combined to guide the chase forward. William Dagnell batted confidently for his 15 runs from 14 balls, striking two boundaries and rotating the strike well. Christopher Bull played an important supporting role, remaining calm at the crease and helping build the platform for victory.
After William Dagnell was unfortunately run out, Didcot still needed valuable runs, but Jerry New and Christopher Bull kept things moving before Hrim Kapatel took charge in the closing stages. Having already starred with the ball, Hrim Kapatel completed a fine all-round performance by remaining unbeaten and hitting the winning boundary in the 19th over.
With contributions from across the team, this was a deserved home victory built on disciplined bowling, sharp fielding and sensible batting.
