Sonning won the toss and chose to field first, and Didcot responded with a determined batting performance before producing an equally spirited effort in the field.

Opening batters Shiv Panchal and Jerry New gave Didcot a steady start, with Jerry New contributing 6 before being run out. The innings was then built around an excellent partnership between Shiv Panchal and William Dagnell, who batted sensibly against some accurate Sonning bowling.

Shiv Panchal was the cornerstone of Didcot's batting effort, carrying his bat for an excellent unbeaten 23 from 25 balls. Opening the innings, he combined patience with intelligent strike rotation and provided stability throughout. At the other end, William Dagnell played some of the shots of the match, striking two crisp boundaries on his way to 16 from 21 balls. Their partnership formed the foundation of the Didcot total and gave the middle order the platform to build in the later overs.

Further contributions came from Oscar Cox-Rogers, who made a patient 12, including two boundaries, and Isaac Keegan, whose lively 9 from 9 balls featured two fours. James Lewis-Rush added a quick-fire boundary-packed cameo as Didcot finished strongly despite losing several batters to run outs.

With a competitive total on the board, Didcot took to the field knowing early wickets would be crucial.

Didcot Fight Back in the Field
Sonning's reply started aggressively, with opener M Meer finding the boundary regularly in the opening overs. Oscar Cox-Rogers and Hrim Kapatel both encountered a confident batting display as Sonning raced out of the blocks.

Didcot continued to battle hard and gradually tightened things up. Shiv Panchal delivered an excellent over, conceding just four runs from the bat, while Tobias Marton followed with a superbly controlled spell that allowed only two runs and put pressure back on the visitors.

A particularly encouraging performance came from Bendict Howman Bett, whose over cost just two runs and contained several dot balls. The disciplined bowling helped slow Sonning's momentum after their rapid start.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the tenth over when Cherish Reddy Gopu clean bowled Z Baloch for 14, rewarding a spell that combined accuracy with determination. Cherish Reddy Gopu finished as Didcot's wicket-taker and continued to challenge the batters throughout.

There were also strong contributions from Isaac Keegan, who bowled with good control and created several dot-ball opportunities, and Jerry New, whose spell included important overs during the middle stages when Didcot were looking to break a developing partnership.

Sonning's batters continued to accumulate runs. V Ramesh proved especially difficult to contain, finding boundaries in the closing overs and helping guide Sonning towards victory.

While the result went Sonning's way, there were plenty of positives for Didcot. The batting showed depth and resilience, and several bowlers demonstrated impressive control under pressure. Most importantly, the team continued to compete until the final over, displaying the determination and sportsmanship that make junior cricket so enjoyable to watch.
