Didcot CC win by 7 wickets

Didcot won the toss and elected to field
A lively, disciplined and increasingly confident Didcot side produced one of their most complete performances of the season, combining sharp bowling, energetic fielding and a calm run chase to secure a 7 wicket victory in this 16 over contest.

First Innings – Didcot Bowl with Purpose
Didcot set the tone immediately. Opening bowler Shiv Panchal delivered a dream start, striking twice in his first over. Two clean bowled dismissals left the opposition reeling at 0/2. It was the perfect example of controlled, accurate new ball bowling and a reminder of why Shiv Panchal has become such a reliable wicket taker.

From the other end, Christophen Bull followed up with a maiden over, piling on the pressure. His reward came later in the innings when he removed Z Bukhari first ball, finishing with a wicket and a superbly economical spell.

The wickets continued to fall at regular intervals:
Oscar Cox Rogers struck with a beauty to bowl E Sheerin, breaking through just when the batters were trying to rebuild.
Hrim Kapatel claimed a wicket with his very first breakthrough ball, removing J Stewart Liberty thanks to a sharp catch from Jerry New.
Jerry New then produced a brilliant double strike of his own, bowling A Johal and T Hills in the same over.
Shiv Panchal returned to claim his second wicket, bowling L Yang after a patient spell of pressure.

Throughout the middle overs, Didcot’s bowlers kept things tight. Cherish Reddy, Isaac Keegan, Benedict Howman Bett, and Jovin Nagularapu all delivered disciplined overs, limiting scoring opportunities and forcing mistakes.

The opposition’s innings never fully recovered from the early collapse. Despite some resistance from R Seth and S JI, Didcot’s bowlers held firm, supported by tidy keeping and alert fielding. The innings closed with a modest total on the board — one Didcot were confident of chasing.

Second Innings – Calm, Controlled, Confident
Didcot’s chase began with Jovin Nagularapu setting the tone. After a watchful start, he unleashed back to back boundaries off L Yang, signalling intent and settling any early nerves.

A strong partnership followed between Jovin Nagularapu and Jerry New, who struck two crisp boundaries of his own. Their running between the wickets was sharp, and they kept the scoreboard moving even when the bowling tightened.

The only wobble came in the 8th over when R Kumar produced a double breakthrough, removing Christopher Bull and Benedict Howman Bett in quick succession. But Didcot never looked rattled.

With the required rate well under control, William Dagnell joined Jovin Nagularapu to guide the team home. Extras helped, boundaries arrived at the right moments, and the pair showed excellent composure to finish the job.

Didcot crossed the line comfortably, sealing a 7 wicket win with overs to spare — a testament to their discipline with the ball and maturity with the bat.

A Mature, Team First Performance
This match showcased everything Didcot have been working on: disciplined bowling, smart field placements, pressure building overs, and a composed chase. Every player contributed, and the team spirit was clear from first ball to last.

Player of the Match Shiv Panchal
A standout performance from Shiv Panchal, who delivered a match defining spell with the new ball. His two wickets in the opening over put Didcot in complete control, and his later dismissal of L Yang capped off a superb day.
Shiv combined pace, accuracy and composure — a brilliant example of leading from the front.

I Scream Moment – All of them!

There were simply too many bowling and fielding highlights to choose just one.

Bowling brilliance came from Shiv Panchal – 2 wickets in the opening over, plus another later, matched by Jerry New taking 2 wickets in a single over. Christopher Bull, Oscar Cox Rogers, Hrim Kapatel and James Lewis-Rush all taking key wickets.
Safe hands from Jerry New with a crucial catch.
Tight keeping and alert ground fielding all around kept runs to a minimum.

So, this week’s I Scream Moment goes to the entire Didcot fielding unit — for the wickets, the catches, the pressure overs, the tight ground work, and the energy that never dipped.

A true team performance.
