Didcot U11s won the toss and elected to field first in their clash against Wolvercote, looking to make early inroads under hot and sunny conditions. Wolvercote began confidently, scoring freely from one end. However, the momentum shifted in the fifth over when Oscar Cog-Rogers produced a moment of brilliance with a direct-hit run-out, sparking a turnaround for Didcot.
From there, Didcot applied the brakes with disciplined bowling and fielding. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, preventing Wolvercote from building any substantial partnerships. Laksh Bhagwani claimed two crucial wickets, while Jerry New delivered a game-changing double strike, claiming two wickets in two balls. Jovin Nagularapu rounded off the innings with two wickets in the final over, capping off a clinical bowling effort.
Wolvercote closed their innings on 116 for 7 from the allotted 20 overs - a competitive but chaseable total.
Didcot’s reply, however, got off to a shaky start. Wolvercote’s pace bowlers bowled with accuracy and intent, picking up early wickets and keeping the pressure on. Despite a stabilising partnership in the middle overs between Laksh Bhagwani and Jovin Nagularapu, the innings never fully recovered.
The return of Wolvercote’s quick bowlers proved decisive, triggering a middle and lower order collapse. Didcot were eventually bowled out, falling short by 30 runs.
