Local mental health charity teams up with Didcot CC

Oxfordshire Mind is delighted to team up with Didcot Cricket Club who have kindly agreed to use the charity’s logo on the front of their playing shirts in 2022, helping to raise awareness about mental health and the support available locally.

Oxfordshire Mind is a local mental health charity which is linked to the national Mind organisation, and exists to promote good mental health, through the provision of high quality services and campaigning for positive change.

The charity provides a range of services to ensure anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support.

The Wellbeing Service supports people in a number of ways, including via 1-1 support, peer support groups, physical activity, short courses and crisis support. The service also provides information and signposting in relation to a wide range of issues regarding mental health and wellbeing.

The Housing Service offers accommodation in Oxford City and in West and South Oxfordshire and supports residents aged 18-65 with mental health issues who would struggle to live independently. The service aims to promote quality of life, independence and social inclusion whilst preventing homelessness. Residents are supported to move out to independent housing within 2 years.

Alex Hills, Primary Care Wellbeing Service Manager at Oxfordshire Mind and playing member at Didcot Cricket Club said, ‘It’s brilliant to see my local club taking this step to do something positive around mental health and wellbeing. The logo will be a good talking point for players, spectators and other teams, helping to raise the profile of mental health awareness and support.’

Dan Knowles, CEO at Oxfordshire Mind has spoken about the positive relationship between sport and mental health: ‘Many people find that being active is good for both their physical and mental health, and there’s increasing evidence to support this. Even a small amount of physical activity, such as a 10-minute walk, can increase our energy levels, boost mood and help us interrupt racing thoughts.’

Oxfordshire Mind wishes Didcot Cricket Club an enjoyable season!
