We are delighted to announce that Sam Kimber will be travelling over from Melbourne to spend the 2022 summer with us. Sam is a medium/fast opening bowler, ‘ideally suited to English conditions’ according to his friend Robbie. This season he has made his VPL Premier League debut for Fitzroy-Doncaster Cricket Club, playing a mix of 2nd/3rd grade cricket.
In 2020/21 Sam played Victorian Sub District cricket for Box Hill Cricket Club, in the strong 1st XI competition. His 28 wickets @14.3 was the third highest total across the VSDCA 1st grade competition, winning the outstanding bowling award for the Eastern Region of VSDCA.
In 2022 we have a bonus ball!!!
We mentioned earlier Sam’s great friend Robbie Cox! Robbie will be travelling over with Sam, both staying in the Harwell Motel. Robbie plays for Bayswater Cricket in the VSDCA league. In 2020/21 Robbie won the Outstanding 2nd XI player award across all 4 regions of the competition. This year he has established himself as an opening bat in Bayswater’s first team, averaging 30. Last season Robbie’s ‘crafty’ medium pacers accumulated 14 wickets at less than 16 apiece. Luckily Robbie has a UK Passport, so the two friends will be able to play in the same team.
We are really looking forward to welcoming them both to Didcot.
But hang on a minute… don’t go anywhere just yet.
In the last few days our good friend Matt McComb has been in touch.
Matt is very keen to return after his fantastic season in 2018 (yes it was that long ago). As well as welcoming Matt for his ‘on pitch’ skills he will be a very positive asset to Boundary Park with his experience preparing test match pitches, Etc.
The president has agreed that he can come over, but now needs to find somewhere for him to sleep. If anyone has, or knows of, a spare room, then please get in touch with David Pryor.
