To celebrate the launch of our new website we are asking members to pick their all time Didcot CC 'Best XI'.

Our fifth entry for 'Best XI' this week comes from a man who unfortunately holds the crown for being the 'third best' cricketer in his family. Its 'Big Doug', Connor Morrison.

My 'Best XI' has a winning at all costs mentality! So many past/present players I've left out who have performed outstandingly well for the club - it certainly wasn't straight forward. Current ability and at their peak, this team would most certainly compete in the HCPL. Although some may say the Captain has his work cut out with this one...

1 Vishane Perera - His cover drives are to die for. Vish has been solid at the top of the order and oozes class. Mr 'Bang Bang' has all the shots in the book and is consistent year after year.

2 Simon Pritchard - Can destroy a bowling attack in very few overs. At his best, Pritch held poses for the local newspaper and had a steely look in his eye from the get go. The sacrifices he made to play for Didcot was admirable. One of the greatest and a true legend of the club.

3 Ian Demain - Tubes wrote the batting coaching manual. Elegant and technically perfect, he would always deliver with the bat. Was a joy to stand at the non-strikers end watching him effortlessly take on the opposition bowlers.

4 Matt Jones - Big, northerner who loved gravvvvy! He also loved scoring runs, dismantling batsmen and taking the occasional one hand screamer at slip after a straight 15 over spell. The best all-rounder the club has ever seen.

5 Richard Cook (C) - El Capitan. The 'Sledgehammer' at slip. And the only bloke to rely on his cable knit to catch a ball! Hits a clean ball and takes on bowling attacks with ease. An instinctive and stern skipper, he certainly knows when to bring himself on!

6 Henry Brisland (WK) - It would be a miracle if all 3 stumps stayed in the ground when Bris was behind the stumps! A wonderful striker of the ball, attack was certainly his best form of defence.

7 Patrick Foster - A surprise inclusion after only playing a handful of games for the club. However, Foz was a fiery competitor who arrived at the club with an impressive Cricketing CV. He had the ball on a string and his bowling efforts at Westbury a few seasons ago was an unbelievable watch from 2nd slip. A top bloke off the field as well.

8 Jordan Morrison - The brother from the same mother. Mr Chairman's bowling stats speak for themselves and he's been a consistent performer for many years in the first team. Although erratic with the bat, when he hits them, they stay hit. We all enjoy when Jordan's next into bat...

9 Robert Keat - One of the most improved performers at the club in the last 10 years and has got what he's deserved, currently playing at higher standards. Rob ripped through top orders and my goodness didn't Great Tew know it! Note to self, don't drop Rob in the slips - it's not worth it!

10 Nathan Patrick - The big, aggressive and skilful Aussie was a cricketing badger inside and out. Nath took over 50 wickets in one season and made quite a name for himself within opposition batting ranks! Probably the best seam bowler I've ever played with.

11 Dave Slade Jnr - Winning at Kimble away in 2013 will always stick in my mind, for many reasons! Again, another fierce competitor who prepared his body meticulously every Saturday. A match winner with the ball, he made things happen in a heartbeat and had the experience to outfox any batsmen.
